I trust you are going to go through a “forensic” examination of the Good Friday events. I use “forensic” in the same sense as forensic medicine or accounting. In examing, the events it is clear that Our Lord was deader than a door nail when the execution party took Him down from the cross.

I’ve read so many good arguments for differing opinions on theses time frames that I’m going to wait til I see the Lord to get it straight.

Actually, I’m also comfortable with a “Good Thursday”, making Wednesday Maundy Wednesday. To me the evidence is sufficiently murky for a good argument to be made for the crucifixion to occur on either Thursday or Friday. Forensicly, the outcome is the same. The body of Our Lord was dead on the scene.

It has been so long since I heard it, but is there not a view that the crucifixion was on Wednesday?

Wednesday would be stretching the time line a little to long for a Sunday/First Day of the Week resurrection. A Wednesday supper in the Upper Room and subsequent arrest is realistic, though not traditional.

I wish I had the notes from my class. (whichever way, I think I am more with Mike Mann on this.)

But would Wednesday be a stretch? If Jews count days from sunset to sunset, which is what I have heard, then that actually would be three days. (1st day sunset of Wednesday to 2nd day sunset of Thursday to 3rd day sunset of Friday) Day 4, sunset of Saturday, also the first day of the week, but before sunrise, Jesus would have risen. Notice that you have all three days and three nights accounted for. That to me is mathematically logical.

A Wednesday crucifixion is stretching it, because then you need a Tuesday Upper Room.
