Necessities of Salvation
Forum category
Sometime in the not too distant past, I remembering reading a thread that looked at the baseline beliefs of biblical Christianity in a way I had not really considered previously. Part of it was dedicated positively to the things one must absolutely believe to be a Christian. The other part was dedicated negatively to the things one cannot deny and still be saved. The idea was that we do not have to know everything to receive Christ as Savior, but we cannot hold some beliefs in contradiction of salvation and simultaneously claim to be saved. I am pretty sure this was a link on someone’s post as part of a bigger discussion. Of course, now I cannot find it. Anyone out there seen anything like this before? More importantly, can you tell me where to find it?
I know some of you are reading this. Any help here?
If we can’t come up with the missing links, perhaps we can reconstruct our own lists.
Positively, what are the essential elements that one must believe to be a Christian?
Negatively, what are the essential elements that one must not deny in order to be a Christian? i.e. acceptance of the Trinity?

Why is it that my voice always seems to be loudest when I am saying the dumbest things?
Before there can be ”life” there must be a birth. Doctrine, in and of itself, is not the currency of heaven. By birth I mean the experiance and not belief in the doctrine.
Can’t help with the link, but here’s a start on your list. There are only two things that comes before the birth and that is election and calling. I know this is foundation work, but without a firm foundation?
Hope this helps?

Bro. Emmerick-
Have you tried using the Advanced Search feature? If you can remember some particular words or phrases from the initial thread, you might be able to pin it down.

[Susan R] Bro. Emmerick-Thanks Susan. Yes. I tried to find it myself, then contacted Aaron, then tried the advanced search tools he provided. So far I have come up dry. Honestly thought this would be a quick fix.

P.S. - feel free to call me Chip if you want, but if you are more comfortable with last names, my whole last name is “Van Emmerik” without the “c” (happens all the time)
