I believe Larry wanted to split off and avoid talking about homoeoteleuton errors when dealing with the bulk of the 200 deletions in modern versions following the critical Greek text.

Even if only half of these omissions originated in simple h.t. errors in the Alexandrian stream of transmission, it would mean that the modern ‘critical text’ is the biggest collective catastrophe to the text in modern Bible history.

We noted that most modern versions are now done in cooperation with the Roman Catholic church, and that they have instructed that all translations, Catholic and Protestant, be based on the UBS4 critical Greek Text. A quick check of the most popular English translations confirms almost complete conformity with UBS4, even and especially regarding the 75 known probable h.t. omissions found in the Alexandrian texts.
Lets see how often the modern versions actually follow the mistaken readings of the UBS4 text:

Christians are probably better off with a New King James or equivalent text, if they want a modern version without so many mistaken deletions of text.

I did a quick search online but didn’t see anything like that. I think it might be helpful for you to identify which versions you believe are problematic. I know you seem to recommend the NKJV.

It might be helpful to explain a bit more fully the recent history of the modern versions.
(1) The Papal instruction regarding using the UBS Greek text as a base was issued in 1987, at the time of the *corrected UBS3 (3rd edition). A brief note on the editions is as follows:
UBS1 1966 * (1st ed. text = Nestle-1927)
UBS3 1975 * (3rd ed. +500 changes made by Aland)
NA26 1979 * (26th ed. adopts text of = UBS3 made by Aland)
UBS3c 1983 * (corrected = adopts NA26 punctuation and gets a new Apparatus)
NA27 1993 * (text = NA26th ed. + revised apparatus)
Thus all these “editions” are essentially the text edited by Aland, based on Westcott/Hort. They are not significantly different.
This Papal agreement would naturally extend to the latest version, UBS4 (1993). This agreement was documented by David Cloud, Answering the Myths on the Bible Version Debate, p. 175:
(2) It is also true however, that most “modern versions” have roots going back to the early 1950s, when many were using either the Westcott/Hort text directly, or some edition like the early Nestle text or UBS1, and generally following the omissions and alterations adopted by the very first and infamous Revised Version (1882) and American Standard Version (ASV). These Unitarian productions had a widespread and extensive support from American universities and mainstream denominations infiltrated and taken over by Unitarian sympathizers.
Thus you will find that most “modern versions” are actually based largely on the earlier editions of the UBS text, or some version of the Nestle/Aland (editions 26, 27). All of these Greek NTs however, are virtually identical, and only vary from each other occasionally in departing from Westcott/Hort on the some 200 major omissions of whole/half-verses.
