GETTING PERSONAL

When considering the gospel message of salvation it is essential that one be personal, rather than merely follow what religious voices and the general public are saying or believing. One must have a personal relationship with God to be saved from judgment and go to heaven, which means receiving God’s Son, the Lord Jesus Christ, into one’s heart as the only Savior. That is the essential truth of it all, and something to be done in our “closet”, as it were (see Matt.6:5-7). We are not talking here about church attendance, rituals, righteous living, and good intentions. Jesus said: “I am the way, the truth, and the life; no man cometh unto the Father, but by Me” (John 14:6).

There is no way sinful man can develop a personal relationship with God through his own religious observances, ceremonies, reasonings and religious ideologies. He needs to have his sins washed away by the blood of Christ to be saved. Our ways are not God’s ways (Isa.55:8). The salvation of God is by grace alone and that is according to His purposes and plan. If one is going to dispute John 3:16, Romans 3:10-31, 1 John 5, etc., they are far off from the path of redemption and are walking a foolish way through the bramble and brush. Their god is not the Almighty God of creation and the Bible.

The most loving and earnest appeal of the gospel message needs to be read personally from the Bible: “In this was manifested the love of God toward us, because that God sent His only begotten Son into the world, that we might live through Him. Herein is love, not that we loved God, but that He loved us, and sent His Son to be the propitiation (sacrifice) for our sins” (1 John 4:9-10). “He that believeth on the Son hath everlasting life, and he that believeth not the Son shall not see life; but the wrath of God abideth on him” (John 3:36). May we be awakened to the urgency of the day. One needs to make it personal and receive the Lord Jesus Christ today rather than religious doctrines. God says: “the time is short” (1 Cor.7:29). “Ye must be born again” (John 3: 3-7).
