My son was commissioned as a second lieutenant yesterday:

I may need to adjust the privacy settings
- Graduated from HS in 2001 and left for USMC boot camp 1 week later
- On 9/11 was in combat training at Camp Pendleton. Was injured that day and medic told him about 9/11
- Serve in Iraq in 2003
- Discharged in ‘07 as a Sgt
- Got an associates degree from Normandale CC while working for Wells Fargo
- ‘08 joined MN National Guard
- Graduated from U of Minnesota ‘12 w degree in Mechanical Engineering
- Engineer with Seagate
- Served as a combat engineer for 1 year in Afghanistan (his group detected and exploded IEDs)
- On MLK day in fight with Taliban, one in unit KIA, 5 injured
- Now a staff Sgt
- Started OCS 15 months ago.
- Graduated this weekend
- Signed up for 10 more years
Praise the Lord for his blessing in your son’s career and family! What an accomplishment! As a non-math person, I highly respect anyone that can suffer through the necessary math to earn an engineering degree.
