A Dying Church

Forum category

There is an independent, fundamental Baptist church that appears to be in decline. Founded in the early 1980’s, it has a beautiful debt-free facility in a super prime location in a growing metropolitan suburb. The church has no doctrinal peculiarities unless you’d include preferring the KJV. It’s music is traditional and conservative. At one time membership was near 300; today it is less than 60 adults, mostly around 50 years old or older. Attendance at Sunday evening and the mid-week service is often less than a dozen. They have had good and not-so-good pastors and at least one church split.
