Can we talk about what the Bible says Please ?

I post this question to those people out there to whom the Bible matters. All are welcome but if you try and hi-jack or disrupt the thread, You will be flagged.
Act 3:19 Repent ye therefore, and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out, when the times of refreshing shall come from the presence of the Lord;
Act 3:20 And he shall send Jesus Christ, which before was preached unto you:
Act 3:21 Whom the heaven must receive until the times of restitution of all things, which God hath spoken by the mouth of all his holy prophets since the world began.
My church ( SBC ) teaches once saved always saved. It teaches that your sins are nailed to the cross the moment you first believe. It teaches the rapture Etc etc.
How does all this stand in light of the above scripture ? I am looking for real input here. I happen to believe that the Bible speaks for its self and that it is right from the first to the last. And it is because of this and not in spite of it that such questions bother me. Meaning the Bible is right and I am off in my understanding.

I’m trying to figure out if I understand the question correctly. Are you wondering of Acts 3:19 might contradict once saved/always saved if the blotting out of the sins doesn’t actually happen until the times of refreshing come?
I’m curious to see what other people say is the meaning of “times of refreshing” and “times of restitution of all things.” Sorry I can’t answer myself, but these are interesting verses.

Kevin, Yes. You pretty much hit the nail on the head. These seem to fly in the face of much that we are taught. IE if all sin, past present and future is nailed to the cross at the moment we believe, Why is this speaking of addressing sin when the Lord Jesus returns and so on.

Marty, I did a quick check of translations, and hardly any of them say “when” there. Most of them say “so” or have some other indicator of result. In other words, the blotting out of Israel’s corporate sin will result in future times of refreshing. This is the opposite of waiting for a future time to be forgiven of sin.

Thanks for your reply Charlie. As far as the idea of the translations go, How about translations that predate the KJ ? I wonder how they read ?

Charlie, It seems that all the translations (7 not counting the Vulgata because I have no clue what it says) prior to Wesly’s, use “when”.
You are quite right, one is opposite the other. But which is correct ?

Here is how I understand this, unless they [persons of Israel] are converted, and have their sins blotted out, they that do not, will not have any part of coming millennium and the new heaven and earth which follows the judgment day.
“And now, brethren, I wot that through ignorance ye did [it] , as [did] also your rulers. But those things, which God before had shewed by the mouth of all his prophets, that Christ should suffer, he hath so fulfilled.
