Calling Fundamentalist/modernist history buffs.

I am trying to remember the name (for further research) of a modernist. Wolfgand something. I believe he was a friend of Fosdick and Rockefeller. I believe he was younger than Fosdick. If I remember correctly he was thought of as a conservative early on but I believe he made a motion to reject the 1833 N.H. Confession by using the “no creed but the Bible” tactic. I may be confusing people here but does anyone know who I am talking about?

maybe the man you’re thinking of (In Pursuit of Purity, pp. 205-206) .

That’s him! Thanks Rob! It was driving me crazy. I don’t have “In Pursuit of Purity” yet so now I have a good excuse to pick it up. Guess I was a little off on his first name.

It’s spelled Woelfkin.

Pesky lack of umlauts in English.

Thanks to both of you. I am preparing some Sunday school messages and I wanted to use something about him but couldn’t find it anywhere.
