I disagree slightly with the reviewer. I found the treatment of the Baptist perspective on elders to be the best I had ever seen. For the reviewer, I would ask, if he believes the plurality of elders is a mandate except where providentially restricted, on what biblical basis does he argue for the exception. Anyway, my only problem with the book was that I felt Dr. Bauder presented the pastor/elder’s authority in too limited a fashion. I do not agree that deacons have authority within the church. On the whole, I greatly appreciated the book.
