Balancing the community role of the church with the church's responsibility to government

We are a group of urban and suburban dwellers who are focused on re-weaving the fabric of a thriving community in ___________________________ in the spirit of Jesus Christ. In this area, we are working in the following areas: (7 items are listed including this bullet point)

Immigrants – We provide support for our undocumented neighbors to help them with life in this country.

Perhaps they are helping them turn themselves in to ICE and return to their home country, but it doesn’t appear that way. It appears this church has dedicated itself to helping illegal immigrants circumvent the law by helping them remain in this country. I found it interesting that they have picked up the liberal jargon identifying these folks as undocumented rather than illegal, which makes sense if you are welcoming them into the fold.

How does this not constitute an issue of church discipline rather than an offer of a helping hand?

Living in Az and working in public education, the issue of illegal immigration is front and center. This is an issue churches are forced to deal with. So, what do you do when you discover someone you are working with is here illegally?
