Did Jesus Interrupt Your Dreams?

Being the flesh and blood we are, being the interlopers of a cosmopolitan world in which we are and being the sojourners of a world that beckons before we wake and tugs at our soul as we seek peaceful rest at the strength of our Lord there are times when, for some and for all, the past, the present and the future call but not the past of God, nor the present of our Lord and not the future of heaven but that of this world. We lie awake or we stare asleep into a void of “what if” as if one might be posing the question, “Did Jesus Interrupt Your Dreams”?

Arbitrary Song Categories for hymnal comparison revisited

I started a discussion on the “old” SI, HERE (http://20.sharperiron.org/showthread.php?t=8721)

about arbitrary music categories for a hymnal review project that I am working on.

The purpose of these categories will be to create a data set from which I can then create a pie chart in order to get a quick, “at-a-glance” overview of a hymnals content. This will be subjective, but once again the point is to get a general idea of the contents.

New Sovereign Grace CD

Sovereign Grace Ministries has announced that they’re releasing a new CD on August 5. It’s called Sons and Daughters and the songs focus on the theme of God’s love for us as a father. I listened to the preview clips and as usual am impressed with the theological depth of the lyrics. Even if you may have different style preferences, I’d encourage at least checking out this link where you can listen to previews: http://www.sovereigngracemusic.org/albums/category/sovereign_grace_musi… .

Missionary needs & practical ideas

I’m looking for practical, helpful projects that the ladies in our church can do together to help missionaries on the field or on deputation/furlough.

We pray and write to our missionaries as individuals. But we need something more, a project we can work on as a group of ladies, maybe involving the children.

Robert Sumner's Biblical Evangelist blasts new BJU Press book on alcohol.

The lastest Fundamentalist periodical to criticize the BJU Press book “The Christian and Drinking” by Randy Jaeggli is “The Biblical Evangelist” published by Evangelist Robert Sumner. Here are some quotes from his review of the book:

“No way around it; this is a book advocating social drinking — you know, ‘in moderation.’ … In his Conclusion, Jaeggli sounds like Billy Sunday or the local arm of the WCTU (Women’s Christian Temperance Union), but we doubt that after 70 pages of ‘okay on the sauce’ it will do much good.”

In his “Off the Cuff” column, Sumner continues:
