Celebrating England's first Evangelical movement, William Tyndale, and the first printed English New Testament

Body

“It was John Wycliffe and his followers who translated the Bible into English from Latin in the late 1300s. This led to the Lollards, who comprised England’s first Evangelical movement. From that movement came a man called William Tyndale, who had the drive to translate the New Testament into English from Greek, using Erasmus’ printed Greek New Testament.” - CPost

Does the Believer Have One Nature or Two? (Part 4)

Originally published as a single article in DBSJ 2 (Fall 1997): 81–103. Used by permission.

This installment continues our study of the believer’s struggle with sin, focusing on “flesh” vs. “the Spirit.”

Galatians 5:16–17

But I say, walk by the Spirit, and you will not carry out the desire of the flesh. For the flesh sets its desire against the Spirit, and the Spirit against the flesh; for these are in opposition to one another, so that you may not do the things that you please.

It is universally recognized that this passage describes the believer’s battle with sin—the flesh against the Spirit. Don’t Misread Proverbs

Body

“Proverbs is easily one of the most widely quoted books of the Bible. Practical and poetic, it invites us to live God’s way in God’s world by pursuing the path of wisdom. But despite its popularity, Proverbs is also one of the most misunderstood and misapplied books.” - TGC

Which Bible app do you use most?

When wanting to read or listen to the Bible via an App, which is your favorite? Why is it your favorite?

I still use Bible Gateway on my computer, but on my phone App ads get in the way (no way to “x” out of them). I did a little research and added YouVersion Bible to my wife’s phone (she likes to listen to the Bible being read). I will probably soon add it to mine. What is your favorite and why?

Puritan Books Evaluated: Part 3 – The Doubting Believer by Obadiah Sedgwick

Read the series.

There are a number of good books dealing with doubt that I would recommend. More modern authors like Os Guinness, Gary Habermas and J. P. Moreland have made solid contributions to this subject. Of the Puritan authors, we find quite a few addressing assurance, but not so many dealing with doubt.
