FYI (if you’re a teenage girl)
Jay, the word “clothing” there (“coats” KJV, “tunics” NKJV, “garments” NIV/ESV) is kethoneth, from a root meaning “to cover.” It means a coat, garment, robe, shirt, tunic. It is the same word used of Joseph’s “coat of many colors” (Gen. 37:3ff). BDB says it was the “principal ordinary garment of man and woman worn next to the person.” TWOT says it was a long, shirtlike garment usually of linen; a tunic. The UBS OT Handbook says, “ ‘Garments’ translates a word referring to a knee-length or longer covering, probably without sleeves. It is referred to in English sometimes as a ‘tunic,’ but ‘a long shirt’ may give a better picture.”
