Coral Ridge Congregation Votes To Retain Pastor
It’s the same old story, different names.
I have been pastoring the church I currently serve for 26 years. I hope to be here for years to come (I am only going on 53). When I leave, I know the odds are that the same thing will happen here. I am hopeful that we will be one of the few that escape this syndrome.
I had a pastor friend who retired after 20 years. They got a new pastor, and he was well received, at first. The same thing happened there. People do not want a new leader, they want the old leader re-incarnated. The goal of the successor, in their eyes, is to work hard at imitating his predecessor.
But one major upheaval every 20 or 50 years is better than a chain of mini-upheavals every 5 years!
