“PowerPoint makes us stupid.”
A blurb from the “worship wars”? No. Actually, it’s from Gen. James N. Mattis of the United States Marine Corps.HT: DB
in my experience, one of the big time-wasters of powerpoint is wrestling with all the crippled formatting tools.
i really doubt that the main spaghetti graphic in the article was made with powerpoint. besides, it looks like exactly the kind of thought-provoking, information-rich diagrams mattis is advocating.

[ChrisC] i really doubt that the main spaghetti graphic in the article was made with powerpoint. The graphic looks like it was created in Visio and inserted in the PPT slide
This article is something us little people in the military (the ones who DEVELOP the presentations) have been saying for a decade. We grasped the inherent inadequacy of bullets and quick blurbs and the ridiculous concept of “talking to the slide” very early on. I whole-heartedly agree that PPT and its cohorts are a tool greatly overused, inappropriately employed and destined to cause more trouble than worth the trouble. In my personal experience, I’ve learned to do an effective job of filling slides that satisfy though entirely consisting of convincing but virtually meaningless junk.
PPT is great for hymns in services, however. Just saying.
