Affair-proofing My Marriage

I’ve found that when there is any distance, either from irritation/arguments or something as seemingly benign as just busyness, that’s when I’m most prone to wander in my thoughts and with my eyes. Unfortunately I often fail, but through God’s grace, I don’t leave the house without making sure that I’ve apologized to my wife if and when we’ve had a disagreement, no matter how minor or small the disagreement is. And, on those days when we’re both busy and seem to be passing each other both physically and mentally, I make sure to take the time to text message her at the least.

In a larger more important picture, that is a reminder of how easy it is to wander from my King if and when I allow other things to create distance between myself and Jesus. Thankfully, like my earthly marriage, my sinful stupidity doesn’t sever my relationship with my King.
