The Great and Misunderstood Challenges of Adoption
Well written. After watching what my brother in law and his wife went through when they adopted two children who had fetal alcohol syndrome, my hat is off to those who adopt foster children. Those who mock pro-life activists for not adopting foster children really have no clue how badly a child must be hurt/damaged before most social services agencies will take them away—with of course some exceptions where people get too zealous. They also don’t understand how stretched for time most social services workers are, and how they’re being called to make a lot of decisions they really aren’t trained well to make.
(not trying to bad mouth them here—it’s just rough when your job is to try and figure out some way for the children of addicts and criminals to have a chance)
Aspiring to be a stick in the mud.
