A literal understanding of Biblical prophecy produces no other conclusion. Even though the church is currently the primary means of gospel witness today, Israel still has a role in God’s plan. The promises about the land & a king and kingdom apply primarily to Israel, although the church will certainly benefit from that. A more important question is why only 51% of Evangelicals?

Is Israel “still” God’s Chosen people? Yes.

Is John Smith, a random Jewish person, God’s Chosen person? Depends upon whether they believe in Jesus Christ or not.

Being Jewish does not mean you are saved, righteous, or anything else.

I think that the percentage was very likely considerably higher 25-30 years ago. It is regrettable that the percentage in this poll was so low.
