United Methodists’ Native American International Caucus calls for end to Columbus Day

“The caucus is asking Congress to approve several bills replacing the federal holiday with Indigenous Peoples Day.” - RNS

I have no problem recognizing and honoring Native Americans. But anyone aware of history knows America was not a utopia when only Native Americans lived here. They had good and bad people, and atrocities, just like every other race.

Ending Columbus Day seems another of many liberal attempts to delete our national heroes and divide our country into splinters.

Columbus, like most everyone else, was not perfect. He was a man of his times. But his accomplishments were great and he had a profound effect on America. We should gladly celebrate Columbus Day.
