"...(M)ost of the candy sold during this season has been dedicated and prayed over by witches."

In Charisma, Kimberly Daniels warns of “The Danger of Celebrating Halloween…”

“Curses are sent through the tricks and treats of the innocent whether they get it by going door to door or by purchasing it from the local grocery store. The demons cannot tell the difference.”

Good gracious. Her article is about as well-reasoned as Eastburn’s counter “argument”! Shew-ee. I won’t be going back to that web site any time soon!

My thought was “I wonder how she knows that?” (referring to the quote, mainly). How do would one research that sort of thing…. ad in the paper “Witches wanted to participate in survey of candy cursing trends… being conducted by an evangelical Christian.” (I wouldn’t hire too many to man the telephones!)
On the other hand, I don’t want to jump to naturalistic conclusions and say there are no witches… though I think the popular idea of them is far from what the Bible describes.

Edit: Woah… I’m also sure glad we don’t have folks posting the kind of comments they do over there.

Views expressed are always my own and not my employer's, my church's, my family's, my neighbors', or my pets'. The house plants have authorized me to speak for them, however, and they always agree with me.

but obviously they don’t, as this post will prove. :p

I can appreciate much of her article. I am sure that these things go on in the world, and that there is spiritual wickedness in high places, low places, and even Nebraska. I don’t believe it is prudent for a Christian to celebrate Halloween or embrace the occult trappings.

But putting on the tinfoil hat of paranoia isn’t sensible either. All of creation is cursed (technically) so just ask God to take the curses off the turkey and stuffing and mashed potatoes and pumpkin pie, then ask Him to bless the Snickers and Starburst and Three Musketeers when it’s time for dessert. I think cholesterol is going to get us before the demons do.

I just want to know how she comes to conclusion that most of the candy has been dedicated and prayed over by witches? I work for a food manufacturer, and it isn’t like we would just let witches onto the plant floor, or any part of the process afterward, to pray over the food. (I stopped reading the article after that)

[Jim Peet] And am feeling strange :)

That’s just your glucose level rising rapidly. It will probably be more harmful than the witches prayers.

Well, since greater is he who is in me than he who is in the world, I’m going to go ahead and eat that butterfinger from my kids’ candy bucket.
