Dr. Richard Stratton resigns as President of Clearwater Christian College

I’m not sure that I’m seeing the connection there, Jim. Are you saying that Stratton’s kind of last responsibility was to join the IFCA? Or that he is in disagreement with IFCA Int’l and that’s why he is leaving?

BTW - I’m glad they joined the IFCA. Good for them.

"Our task today is to tell people — who no longer know what sin is...no longer see themselves as sinners, and no longer have room for these categories — that Christ died for sins of which they do not think they’re guilty." - David Wells

If he was leaving because there was an issue or major disagreement, would he be staying until the end of the year?

I had the joy of meeting Dick and Holly Stratton for the first time last summer at the Annual Conference of the Fellowship of Fundamental Bible Churches. Dick was our main speaker and Holly spoke to the ladies on several occassions. Dick and Holly did more than just speak at a conference, they gave of themselves continually to minister to others and to encourage others. I would consider the Strattons two of the most humble servant-minded people I have ever met.

I also appreciated Dick’s burden to reach the hearts of young people. That burden was evidenced in the philosophies they have implemented at Clearwater.

May God lead and direct in the Stratton family and in the CCC family in this time of transitions.

There is no connection between Stratton leaving and CCC joining the IFCA. I am a graduate of CCC and was there when Stratton was there. I know that Stratton is leaving to work with a church or get involved in missions. when I was at CCC he always mentioned how he and his wife wanted CCC to support the local church. This is their way of going the next step in their hearts desire. From what I know of Stratton he would have been in favor of CCC joining the IFCA.

Chris Anderson has a http://mytwocents.wordpress.com/2011/02/01/dick-stratton-a-model-of-hum… good take on Dr. Stratton’s reasons for leaving:

Knowing human nature and our desire to find out “the real story,” I encourage you to save yourself the effort of looking for some hidden reason for Dick’s resignation. There’s no scandal, no power struggle, no story. It’s downright boring, to be honest. Just a godly man praying about and doing the Lord’s will. Thank the Lord with me for His direction for families and ministries and pray for His continued blessing on everyone involved in the transition.

If this is true - and I have no reason to doubt that it isn’t - then Stratton deserves even more praise for what he’s doing. How many men walk away from being the President of a college to go shepherd people?

Sounds like CCC just lost a tremendous person. I hope that he’s able to find something soon.

Dr. Stratton is one of the most humble men I’ve ever met. I attended CCC the year Stratton was coming in as president of the college and spent much time working along side him each summer as a member of CCC’s ministry teams for four summers in a row, and cannot tell you what a profound impact his example made on my life. I remember being up to my elbows in dishwater right next to Dr. Stratton at a host family’s home - he wa always quick to serve and minister, and expected us to be mindful and aware of others at all times. He took being a servant very seriously!!!

I know the Lord will continue to use him mightily in his next ministry!
