“...it’s harder to hate up close” – Grace-Filled Response Sparks Change in Wedding Venue Owner’s Views on Interracial Marriage

“After searching Saturday evening, Saturday night, most of the day Sunday and sitting down with my pastor Sunday night after church, I have come to the conclusion my decision, which was based on what I had thought was correct to be supported by the Bible, was incorrect!” - Christian Headlines

Note also that the person at least says they studied for days to figure this out, and I tend to take them at their word. It’s a powerful illustration of how hard it can be to overcome one’s own cultural biases and expectations. A side note is that I might almost recommend inviting the couple over for a meal and offering the free use of the facility as a sign of repentance.

And, quite frankly, as a sign of good business sense, because even if the owners never said they gave the couple the facility for free, it increases the likelihood that black or mixed race couples will use it in the future because the first happy couple already had.

Aspiring to be a stick in the mud.
