Walker Wildmon, a spokesman for AFA, said Wednesday the organization is unsatisfied with Target’s response, calling the policy “basically a bathroom free-for-all.”

Target said Wednesday that its second-quarter earnings fell 9.7% to $680 million and lowered its sales estimate for the rest of the year, citing “a difficult retail environment.”

Vs Wal-Mart:

The world’s largest retailer got even bigger during the second quarter, as the company’s revenue and earnings topped Wall Street forecasts, and it reported its biggest same-store sales gain in four years.

Wal-Mart raised its full-year outlook in wake of the strong results, even as it expects to take a 5 cent per share hit from its pending acquisition of Jet.com.

Wal-Mart shares were up nearly 2 percent in early trading, at about $74, after briefly touching a 52-week high of $75.19.

….it strikes me that the big issue here is that Target has still failed to address the reality that those who are, and should be, on Megan’s LIst will still have a likelihood of being in the ladies’ room. This move, while helpful, doesn’t change anything of note when a little one needs to go.

Aspiring to be a stick in the mud.
