Southern Baptists and the Quest for Theological Identity

I’m solidly b [small ‘b’] baptist - not so convinced the brand name “Baptist” means much anymore.
I’m mostly with Jim—currently encouraging my oldest daughter to attend an EFCA church at college because there are no good Baptist churches in the area—but I wonder if the SBC can do a lot to restore the usefulness of the “Baptist” name in this regard. If you do it right, it’s useful shorthand for a lot of truth—but if you do it wrong, it’s shorthand for a lot of nonsense.
In my perhaps not humble enough opinion, of course. :^)
