“The arrogance of capacity… is ‘not paying attention to the actual limitations of what our souls and physical bodies can handle.’ We plow on through the hard things without pausing to rest and recharge in Jesus.” - Lifeway

Your teaching is becoming wooden and fruitless. There is a certain point where one’s work output declines in quantity and quality when one works too hard. Varies by person, but as a rule, when you get beyond 45-50 hours per week for mentally strenuous work, you actually get less done. Along the same lines, a lot of my best insights at work and elsewhere come when I’m resting, showering, exercising, and the like.

Or, put in the words of a former pastor of mine, “Sometimes the most spiritual thing you can do is to take a nap.” Be spiritual!

Aspiring to be a stick in the mud.

Do not grumble against one another, brothers, so that you may not be judged; behold, the Judge is standing at the door.
