The Lord’s Supper: Meal or Not?

Interesting. I did a post on this a while back: http://www.fundamentallyreformed.com/2006/09/22/snack-or-feast/

I have never felt the thimble full of juice and a splinter of a cracker is a big enough portion to really get the symbolism and experience the joys of the Lord’s Supper. Expediency limits our ability to experience the Supper, in my opinion. We have reacted against the dry-liturgy of high-church-ism, and the transubstantiation error too far.

How did we evolve from the first Lord’s Supper which involved a somewhat lengthy communal meal with shared bread and wine and lots of conversation concerning Christ’s death and its meaning to fifteen minutes with an infinitesimal piece of cracker and Welch’s grape juice consumed in silence.
