Should States Honor the Bible as a Historic But Not Sacred Book?

“Haslam, who is a Christian, explained that not only would the bill violate the establishment clause of the First Amendment, but that it ‘trivializes the Bible, which I believe is a sacred text.’”

Discussion

I’m not sure it “trivializes” exactly, but I also can’t see a whole lot of value in it at this point in time. To the anti-Christian folks (I was going to say “anti-religious” but they are quite selective most of the time), it’s just frightening (“theocracy!!!!!”) and to true believers it’s quite unnecessary. Enshrining the Bible as “the book we all used to believe in” just seems too sad.
