Really like the Bee.  It shows us ourselves, but without the "acid" of "Stuff Fundies Like".  (pray for the guy who headed SFL, BTW; Jim posted some things that indicate he's really a hurting guy. No need to be disagreeable as we do in points disagree)

Amazed that:

  • Seemingly sprung out of nowhere and seems to be everywhere (observations from FB)
  • High "quality" (if there is such a thing) satire
  • That a guy can make a living at it

This is really good satire as evidenced by the fact that often times, especially when it's posted on Facebook, people have to be told that it's satire.

Violence Breaks Out At T4G As Rival Theology Gangs Clash

For the third time in as many gatherings, the Together for the Gospel Conference was marred by an outbreak of turbulence as tensions rose over differing hermeneutic approaches to Scripture. “The dispensationalists feel like they’ve been given short shrift again,” said Dr. John Dawsen, as a Crossway pen whizzed by his ear. “Combine the grammatical-historical and redemptive-historical feud and inter-complementarian squabbles, and you have a recipe for contention.”

Clad in a Straight Outta Westminster t-shirt and sporting a teardrop tattoo by his left eye, Charles Lyman said, “It’s not my fault they can’t read their Bibles. Next time they won’t bring an eschatology chart to a sword fight.”

The guy next door to me is the son of two Amish people, so I really got a kick out of this one.  Excerpt:

TUSCON, AZ—Housewife and Mary Kay representative Ruth Tanner, 52, is still convinced that the piles of Amish romance novels hidden under her bed are absolutely not inappropriate for her consumption and definitely don’t constitute an unhealthy obsession with romance.

And while we're at it, might as well.

I like the sign on the quilt stand: "Our Prices Art Insane!"

Tyler is a pastor in Olympia, WA and works in State government. He's the author of the book What's It Mean to Be a Baptist?
