A Look Inside the New Issue of Credo Magazine: What does Plato have to do with Jesus?
“…a long tradition before them—from Augustine to C.S. Lewis—considered themselves Christian Platonists…. philosophy capable of defending Christianity’s belief in an eternal, unchanging first cause whose goodness, truth, and beauty explain reality and give this life true meaning and purpose.” - Credo

This is a fascinating issue of Credo. Having just read Augustine’s Confessions and City of God, I definitely see the platonic influence in his writings. I do agree with Craig Carter that Christian Platonism is a modified version of Platonism and not just a total adherence to it. There are many aspects of Platonism that are clearly contrary to biblical revelation. I guess the question is how much synthesis between Christianity and Platonism is helpful before it becomes a dangerous form of syncretism?
