Support for Trump could spell end of the evangelical church. But when?
“Continuing evangelical support for a scandal-ridden president is undermining the conservative white church and could even spell the death of Christianity in the United States, according to some experts on American culture, politics and faith.” BGNews
We’ll just ignore the fact that Scripture says something about the very gates of Hell not prevailing against the church….
Aspiring to be a stick in the mud.
‘Scandal-ridden’ is a matter of perspective. Barack Obama was also scandal-ridden. Hillary Clinton was/is ‘scandal-ridden.’
But I recall pundits in 2008 expressing anger at conservatives/evangelicals for not hoping for the best in regards to Barack Obama’s presidency. I think much of the so-called evangelical support of Trump is simply people hoping for the best.
The options in 2016 were Hillary Clinton and Donald Trump. No amount of hand-wringing, second-guessing, and ‘expert’ analysis will ever change that. Both candidates were morally corrupt. Clinton was also politically corrupt and enough voters decided that of the two, Trump was the less corrupt, and the one more likely to advance conservative ideals. This has proven to be the case. Does anyone believe President Hillary Clinton would have nominated Neil Gorsuch to the Supreme Court? Does anyone believe President Hillary Clinton would have led congress to pass a huge tax cut?
I can applaud some good things getting done.
I can keep affirming that Trump is morally corrupt.
Both can be true.
