Most people here in the U.S. can't seem to pronounce those sounds anyway, even when you let them hear how it's done! Of course, the prevailing method seems to be to ignore the mark and pronounce it the U.S. way anyway. I'd just as soon not hear that mispronunciation grating on my ears!

I guess that means no umlauts
I guess that means no umlauts in church names, unless you're in Germany, Austria, or Turkey.....bummer.
