I still scratch my head on how 4 elders all came to the same decision that this was a vastly superior approach to dealing with a problem that is really a minor classified problem at best. They all unanimously choose a method that was clearly not biblical and they took an approach that was sneaky and deceptive. I could see 1 individual having a clouded thought process to get to this, but all 4, seems almost impossible. In the end when 4 elders come to the same decision, it points almost entirely to a "culture" problem. The fact that Josh Buice fell for practically the same type of issue, shows that the issue may be quite pervasive and may even pervade the culture of the entire congregation. It is sad to see so much fall, over such a minor issue. When I was younger, I often viewed things as much more black and white (i.e. I am right and you are wrong. We are righteous and. you are unrighteous). The older I get the more humility I have in this area. We are all sinners. My sin is just as putrid as someone who is openly committing adultery. And while we still need to address sin, I have tended to have a lot more humility around this.

Isn't this a blind spot for most "discernment" ministries? Those who make a public practice of spotting errors / faults in others? I think of Wretched Radio, Roys Report, etc.

In this case, I don't believe it was wrong for the Pray's Mill Four to note that another pastor had come at least perilously close to plagiarism, but it was wrong to do so anonymously, and it was wrong to do so outside the Matthew 18 realm because plagiarism is not in general a criminal issue.

Regarding Roys--I don't listen to Wretched Radio--my take is that while might one get frustrated with a bit of "muckraking", her staff generally does not do so anonymously, does not (except for things like sexual assault) use anonymous sources, and is dealing very often with criminal cases, or those which have already gone through church channels. So whatever objections we'd come up with for Roys would be somewhat different than those for G3. (not saying there are none, but we want to speak precisely)
