Counterterrorism director Joe Kent's resignation over Iran war prompts WH pushback: 'Very weak'

“Kent, a former U.S. Army warrant officer and former Central Intelligence Agency paramilitary officer who unsuccessfully ran for Congress in 2022 and 2024, said he supported Trump’s noninterventionist foreign policy platform dating back to 2016 but has come to believe Trump has grown beholden to Israeli interests.” - CPost

Not surprising comment from the WH.

But Leavitt's comment, "We all understood there was clearly an imminent threat that Iran was very close to the enrichment of nuclear capability, and they were building missiles at a pace that no one in the region could keep up with,"

doesn't line up with Trump's assessment that their nuclear capability was obliterated a few months earlier. It was either obliterated, or not. You can't have the President saying one thing and the administration using the opposite to outline the driver for the war. It also doesn't line up with what Trump's own intelligence community briefed Congress on this morning. It continues to surprise me that the Republicans line right up behind Trump no matter what. The subservience of one branch of government to the leader of the other branch of government is so surprising.
