The FAQs: What Should Churches Do When Protest Enters the Sanctuary?
“Under U.S. law, churches are private property, even when open to the public for worship. Property owners—including churches—retain the right to set rules for conduct on their premises and to remove individuals who violate those rules.” - TGC
Maybe 360,000 places of worship in this country. I’m not going to worry about it.
....if protesters come in, you...
- Remind them they're on private property and do not have a right to disrupt services
- Contact the police and activate the safety team
- Have as many people as possible record what goes on for evidence
- Contact your lawyers when it's over for civil action and to encourage prosecutors to take action
- Engage physically only if absolutely necessary
Good article, by the way.
Aspiring to be a stick in the mud.
