Pastor John MacArthur Contracts Pneumonia, Nearing End of Earthly Life at 86
“It was announced on Sunday, July 13, that John MacArthur, 86, pastor-teacher of Grace Community Church (GCC) in Sun Valley, California, has contracted pneumonia and is expected to be in the presence of Jesus soon.” - C.Leaders
A word to the wise from a good friend of mine--Mayo pathologist and my eldest daughter's father-in-law--is that pneumonia is called "the old man's friend" because pathogens tend to collect in the lungs when one can not, or does not, get daily movement like walking/exercise to expel them. So if you're searching for a reason to take that daily walk or get some exercise, know that it can be a big difference between robust seniority and dying on a heavy drip of antibiotics.
And obviously; I am not saying anything about how MacArthur got this, let alone blaming him. It can be fairly random, it can be the consequence of poor stewardship of one's body, or it can simply be what happens when the body will no longer take a walk and such. I'm 1500 miles too far to the east/northeast to figure out which is the case here.
But back to the topic, glad for the ministry of Pastor MacArthur.
Aspiring to be a stick in the mud.
