....is that infant baptism dates from Augustine's hypothesis that infants were unregenerate, but that a measure of grace/salvation was provided upon baptism. That's a powerful argument for paedobaptism in an age of incredible infant mortality like the 3rd/4th century.

Aspiring to be a stick in the mud.
