Gallup: Few Major U.S. Political Figures Rated Positively on Balance

“Secretary of State Marco Rubio, House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries, and Secretary of Health and Human Services nominee Robert F. Kennedy Jr. have favorable ratings that exceed their unfavorable ratings by seven or eight percentage points. However, at least one in four U.S. adults are not familiar enough with Rubio and Jeffries to rate them.” - Gallup

David, if the date formats need a special decoder ring to understand them, then they need to be updated. Yes, I realize that software and firmware development is expensive and all, but it's been 19 years since any major systems have been done. It's time to move on.

Aspiring to be a stick in the mud.

Maybe the IG threw the data into the AI machine (or found a youngster with no college degree; pictures on the internet suggest she is not sub-24). Or maybe she didn't know how to read the data and handle the nuance?

Numberholders Age 100 or Older Who Did Not Have Death Information on the Numident

(this is a separate report not related to the $72 billion improper payments report)

Then again, some are questioning if the IG knew how to read the data on the $72 billion too.

DOGE appears to be operating like a bull in a china shop. You have employees being fired only to be told it was a mistake and they weren't fired, and then being fired again. You have employees in charge of the nuclear arsenal being fired only to find out they are indispensable and suddenly being frantically rehired. Now the most recent Musk firings are the very FDA staff who are reviewing Musk's Neuralink implants.

Once again, how is it not a conflict of interest for Musk to be in charge of DOGE while owning his numerous companies that are recipients of government contracts or being reviewed by (now fired) government officials? To be fair, DOGE or something like it is needed and waste and fraud should be uncovered, but the way DOGE is currently operating is concerning to say the least.

Incidentally, for an administration that is so concerned about "waste", there is a lot of money being spent on unnecessary trips by the president. If we were to eliminate presidential attendance at Super Bowls and Nascar races, how many millions of taxpayer dollars could be saved?

"the date formats need a special decoder ring to understand them, then they need to be updated"

This is the problem. 1) they don't need a decoder ring and 2) it is easy to go in and say something is old it is just time to update it. The problem is that it is not practical. Everyone has a fixed budget. You have to make a decision on where to spend it. All I am saying is that it is naive to just jump into a system, think you understand it and criticize why something has not been updated, without understanding it. There is more chance of failure in an upgrade than there is with benefits. Given the massive costs, it is the reason why most CIOs don't upgrade them. It makes no sense. Mainframes are manufactured and supported, and COBOL is still updated and supported, and both work exceedingly well as what they do.

An ABC News headline was just released today that says:

Judge denies request to temporarily block DOGE's mass firings, access to data

This quote was also found in the article:

U.S. District Judge Tanya Chutkan -- who previously oversaw President Donald Trump's criminal election interference case -- said the states didn't show that immediate irreparable harm would result, noting that the court cannot act based on media reports.

I believe that the above quote has been a huge part of the problem in this whole discussion. Accusations of law breaking have been thrown out based on media reports rather than on a clear reading of the law or of clear evidence of what has actually been happening. Of course, it will take time for the laws to be appealed and challenged, but I must say that it bothers me how many people act as if they are legal experts simply based on headlines. It bothers me even more when the suggestion is made that people are sinning by either disobeying the law or not condemning others for disobeying the law, when judges are not even in agreement about whether or not the law was disobeyed.

(Edit: Just to clarify, an emergency stop is what was denied. A further case will likely be brought in the future, so this may not be a done deal. It is likely that much of this could eventually end up at the Supreme Court.).

I do not want to be so arrogant as to suggest that everything DOGE is doing is legal, but until it is proven to be illegal, I want to be very careful about making accusations. I hope others would do the same.
