Pro-life conservative evangelicals learn that Donald Trump’s “art of the deal” also applies to abortion
“Trump and evangelicals made a deal in 2016…. Evangelicals delivered. Trump delivered. And now that the deal is done, Trump is no longer obligated to conservative evangelicals.” - Current

Not only that, but it appears from the data that abortions are increasing in the US despite the overturn of Roe v. Wade, and that in a lot of states, the right is now enshrined in the state constitution. Not sure we gained a lot of ground on this one.
"Evangelicals would look the other way on all of Trump’s immorality–past and present." & we increased abortions. Maybe Roe v. Wade should not have been the focus.
Roe v Wade was bad Constitutional law. The Dobbs decision appropriately negated Roe and put the issue with individual states. If a majority in certain states allow abortion, then that is how our federal system works. If abortions are increasing in certain states, the blame is not on the Supreme Court but on the people in those states who approve abortion. If a Christian lives in a state which has lenient abortion law, then that Christian has more options for changing the laws than on a federal level, as previously was the case. What this issue demonstrates is that, when a controversial issue is framed in terms of freedom and rights, people will usually allow almost anything.
Trump is a pragmatist and populist. He will sacrifice abortion to some extent to win an election.
