Pope suggests blessings for same-sex unions possible in response to 5 conservative cardinals
“The Vatican on Monday published a letter Francis wrote to the cardinals on July 11…. In it, Francis suggests that such blessings could be studied if they didn’t confuse the blessing with sacramental marriage.” - RNS

Gonna be interesting to see how the Pope reconciles his new position with older positions like Humanae Vitae. For whatever other virtues or vices Rome possesses, they have historically been against this sort of thing, and the claim at least was that the Catholic Church doesn't change.
I'm guessing either the response will be either a denial of the obvious, or some rhetorical gymnastics that makes Simone Biles bow down in awe. I'm guessing a mix of both.
Aspiring to be a stick in the mud.
Under Pope Francis' leadership and synodality emphasis, the Roman Catholic Church is more Catholic than Roman.
