What A Mess.

This is definitely a mess and can be the expected response of individuals who are accused of clergy sexual abuse / spiritual abuse, who are "outed" and "blacklisted," but who are not convicted in a court of law of anything illegal.

Even if a pastor acknowledges his guilt and sin (but not crime) before the congregation, if people spread that information publicly outside of the church, the threat of civil action will be swift.

A former pastor at one of the churches my family used to attend "took his talents to South Beach" so to speak and left the church. When the elders revealed to the church that one of the reasons he left was because of relational difficulties that he caused in the church, word got back to him about what was said, and he threatened to sue the church for "invading his privacy and intentionally causing him emotional harm."
