‘There is no Santa!’ evangelism
Wife: “I grew up being told Santa was real and I turned out ok”
Me: “Oh yeah?!”
This reminds me of an experience I had recently. I was in a downtown and a street preacher started heckling us for no apparent reason about our worldiness. He started calling out what he perceived our sins to be. Among the normal candidates (TV, movies), he mentioned “wasting our time playing with yo-yos.”
I wanted to tell him that the 1970’s called and wants it sins back. Besides, we were not playing with yo-yos. We were playing Pokemon ;)

You’re going to Hell for sure! :)
This guy really thinks:
- That this is evangelism
- That it is God-honoring, Biblical evangelism
- That this is effective and
- That he is obeying God
Last time I heard a “young” evangelist he threw in the same type of accusations of time- and money-wasting, including the fact that “this country spends six bajillion dollars on dog food each year!” Umm … . . I couldn’t quite figure out the point as an adult, any more than I could as a kid.
… a fool.
Tyler is a pastor in Olympia, WA and works in State government.
….like harassing kids while filming yourself with a selfie stick. He also recommends the “baconator” bullet to deter acts of terrorism (working off the apocryphal story of Gen. Pershing dipping bullets in pigs’ blood before shooting a captured guerilla in the Phillipine insurrection) on his Facebook page. Just odd that no church is extending a call to him; his platform really is a Facebook page with no statement of faith.
Speaking of bacon, lookin’ at his set of chins, as well as the ever-present selfie stick, let’s talk about the sins of gluttony and self-focus….and given that this happened in Texas, I’m kinda surprised nobody asked him to “take it outside.” And I’m also surprised that nobody instructed him that there was a real St. Nicholas who is said to have decked Arius at the Council of Nicea. Here’s a wiki article about him, where his “ministry” is compared to Westboro Baptist Church. As you might have guessed, he self-ordained himself.
Myself, I grew up believing in Santa and….well, I’ll let others judge. :^) (poor Kathee!)
Aspiring to be a stick in the mud.
