I think if “The Donald” is elected President he would do irreparable harm to the conservative movement and remove all hope of actually effecting change in our government for years to come. I believe his ideas, principles, values, and leadership style will not only fail in accomplishing anything favorable during his administration, but will empower many to push our country further away from it’s Biblical moorings. I know there is the issue of the Supreme Court nominations (there could be more than one). I struggle with the balance of the SCOTUS and the implications of liberal judges that feel liberty to interpret the constitution as a living, changing document. Is that enough of a reason? I don’t think so. But that is the one area that I struggle in conceding.

Isaiah 64:8 But now, O LORD, thou art our father; we are the clay, and thou our potter; and we all are the work of thy hand.

We are electing a president and not a king and we still have a system of checks and balances that “should” keep a president from invoking his solitary will on the people. I would hope Congress would have enough sense to keep Trump from imposing insanity on America. I don’t believe they have the will to inhibit Hillary’s agenda.

It seems to me that the Republican party leadership has failed its conservative constituency and wound up with an awkward choice: the embarrassing Trump or Ted Cruz, whom they despise.

I wouldn’t be surprised if the low-information Trumpites turn out in force in the November election like they have in primaries while unmotivated Democrats stay home.
