The author of the 2nd link is trying to make a link between BJU and the KKK. Doesn’t work!
His logic:
- BJU grad is member of KKK
- Therefore BJU to be blamed (connected) the the grad
If every BJU grad (or let’s say 50%) connected to KKK there would be causation.
Most any organization of any size has a bad seed. Eg So and so banker from such and such bank convicted of fraud!

considering the length of its history and the broad range of occupations of its graduates, I wouldn’t be surprised to find a grad or two or more listed. I give the example of Robert Byrd the late senator from West Virginia. While not a BJ alum, many in his generation joined the Klan for the same reasons they joined the Masons. Though, others joined for more sinister reasons.

I have struggled sometimes with friends who … have become people that are just venomous to anyone who will not hate BJ to the extent, level, and use way of expression that they do. It’s been very weird and uncomfortable. So that was insightful, that it is pretty polarizing. Not to all, but in some lives/circles.There is an element that will use any pretense to smear the school.

Anyone who hates BJU is demonstrating spiritual immaturity at least, and may lack regeneration. True Christians don’t hate other Christians. (I John 3:14) Anyone who loves BJU so much that they are blind to problems or weaknesses also demonstrates spiritual immaturity. Any institution that insists that its constituents agree with every belief and practice or risk being ostracized likewise manifests spiritual immaturity. May God help all believers to avoid the mote/beam problem. (Matthew 7:3-5)

My brother and I are both graduates of BJ. We sometimes tell people tongue-in-cheek that when God saved us from rebellion and rough living in Philly in the early 70’s we needed to go to prison or in the military and at BJ we got both. I mean that as a compliment and almost 40 years later I am thankful for the rigorous academic training, the structure, the discipline, and the discipling I received there. I broke a lot of rules, many in ignorance. I got tired of receiving demerits and became a monitor (not hall leader) believing it was better to give than to receive. I made friends there that I have to this day (including Jeff Straub just in case he reads this). To top it off I met my wife there and by God’s grace we have been married for over 37 years. I’m also thankful that God has preserved me from being a hater of BJ. Sure we have our differences but while I can disagree I can’t hate what God doesn’t.
