The Washington Post sold Newsweek in 2010 for $1.00. It has changed hands several times since and in 2012 it ceased publication. It was relaunched earlier this year but its brand has been so badly damaged because of stuff like this that even liberals won’t read it.

Back when I was a high school debater in the mid-1980s, it was an unspoken rule that you did NOT quote Newsweak because you would be telling your opponents that you didn’t know what was a good source and what was not. It was regarded as a step or two above the National Enquirer and the Weekly World News. The difference in writing and thinking was obvious even to teen boys.
And obviously, nothing has changed, as they simply chose to cite the same stuff that anyone who listens to the campus atheist has heard for the past fifty years or so. It is as if the author did not even bother to read the responses that campus pastors made to the campus atheist’s diatribes in the campus newspaper.
There is a perfect picture of Newsweak for you. “Journalists” who obviously don’t read the papers.
Aspiring to be a stick in the mud.
Say what you will about Newsweek - they published the best cover picture ever during Britain’s war with Argentina over the Falkland Islands. Not incidentally, this was the year after Star War’s “The Empire Strikes Back” came out:
