Praise the Lord!

Roger Carlson, Pastor Berean Baptist Church

So wonderful. Precious day for you. I remember when my son trusted Christ. After he prayed and asked for his sins to be forgiven, he looked up at me and said, “He said ‘yes’!” :)

Susan,

He did “repent” right? I mean he did go through all the “right” steps and verbally state out loud that Jesus was both Lord and Savior and not just Savior…right?

I am kidding of course :)

It is wonderful to hear and no doubt there could be no greater joy to your heart than to know your son has come to faith in Christ. Your tears of joy must still be present.

If you feel it appropriate please share more details of the event.

It’s funny that up until yesterday, if I asked Kenny what it meant to be saved, he’d tell me about Jesus dying on the cross, or asking Him into your heart… the usual pat answer delivered in a bored tone of voice. I’ve also told him before that he is lost, and he usually laughs. But we’ve been reading Mere Christianity together in the mornings, and I explain different passages to the kids. As I read the end of chapter 5 where it talks about how now is the time for choosing- that when Christ comes back, it will be too late to choose Him then, I noticed Kenny looking upset- his eyes were red, and he started rubbing them- which is a sure sign he is going to cry. I asked him what was wrong, and he said he was scared.

I said “Why?”

“Because I don’t want to go to Hell”.

“Why do think you are going to Hell?”

“Because I’m not saved.”

“Do you know what it means to be saved?”

“No.”

So I went through the plan of salvation with him, and he could barely answer any questions I asked him because he was crying and still looked afraid. I comforted him for a few minutes, and then he was able to think and speak more clearly. Then I explained a bit more, asked him some more questions about what it means to be ‘lost’ and how the atonement of Christ can take care of his sin problem. I asked him if he wanted to pray, and he asked Christ to be his Savior and forgive him for being a sinner.

He’s been giddy ever since. :D

Sounds like he was under conviction to me Susan. Praise the Lord !
