Lectures 2 & 4 don’t seem to be working properly — at least not for me.
I am unable to download Lecture 2 as it aborts shortly after the download begins. I have tried several times on two different computers. If someone has had success in downloading Lecture 2, could you advise me (PM or whatever) how you were able to do so. Thanks.
Hi Brenda. I had the same issue but then it finally worked. I can’t explain it but I had to keep restarting the download from where it was at to get it to finish. For some reason they came across mis-labeled on my ipad too which was weird. Lecture two was labeled lecture three.
I really enjoyed the lectures once I got them figured out. I learned a lot about something I was only vaguely familiar with.
It’s a very large file, over 150 MB. I tried opening it in my audio editing software, but something is damaged with the file. It does play Ok, just can’t edit it. Other files are fine.

Lecture 2 would play on the iPad, but kept stopping and restarting around the five minute mark. Eventually I got it to play all the way through by skipping over the trouble spot. I’m trying to download it on a windows-based computer, but no luck yet. I’ll keep trying. Also, the second half of lecture 4 (that was recorded in studio) has a few audio glitches in the last 20 minutes or so, but they are brief so you don’t miss a lot of what was said. I am thankful Central has made the audio available.
I got Stokes book on Norris’ shooting of Cripps and the subsequent trial when it was FREE for Kindle:
It appears to have been reissued as:
and is $9.99 for the Kindle.

Thanks John. That stuff about Norris had me shaking my head. I might have to get the book and get a little more detail.
Is Dr Bauder going to put this into a book?
Listened the the 1st and was fascinated by the information. Will try the 2nd today while driving and trust that it plays.

The 2nd wouldn’t play on my MP3 player, so listened to the 3rd and 4th while transporting returning spring break college students today.
My 92 year old mother loves recent church history. When I told her about the audio she wanted to know if there was going to be a book. Being from Canada she knows a little of the history of that group and is very familiar with the name T T Shields as he would have been one of the elder church statesman when she was young.
I might have to buy 2 copies - 1 for both of us!

While it is not a history book, specifically, D. A. Carson’s Memoirs of an Ordinary Pastor shares an interesting account of the history of Canadian Baptists during the mid-20th century. A fascinating and moving book you can download for free. http://s3.amazonaws.com/tgc-documents/carson/2008_memoirs_of_an_ordinary_pastor.pdf
I’d say that Carson’s point of view is somewhat one-sided, although I am sure what he reports is essentially correct. His father never said anything bad about TT Shields, though the way Carson reports the incident, he could well have. There is probably more to the story than you find in the book.
Having said that, the book is very interesting and spiritually profitable.
