Dr Joel Tetreau to assume roll of Regional Coordinator for IBL-West
Thx for your prayers friends. I’ll need more strength and wisdom than I have on my own. Thrilled and humbled for the opportunity.
Straight Ahead!

Dr. Joel Tetreau serves as Senior Pastor, Southeast Valley Bible Church (sevbc.org); Regional Coordinator for IBL West (iblministry.com), Board Member & friend for several different ministries;
Congratulations, Joel! BTW, I looked at the website and did not come across what the initials IBL stand (or at one time stood) for.
Independent Baptist Leadership, maybe?
I have always appreciated your thoughts on SI!
God bless you, brother.

Ed,
Thx my brother! So IBL stands for Institute of Biblical Leadership. Have appreciated your posts as well. By the way - just because my “region” is here in the West does not preclude me from ministry in other places. Lord willing I’ll be in PA just before or after the first quarter of the year. Lord willing we’ll be back in your neck of the Mid-West at some point in time.
Peace!

[Ed Vasicek]Congratulations, Joel! BTW, I looked at the website and did not come across what the initials IBL stand (or at one time stood) for.
I did the same thing - have never heard of this organization and had to go to several pages just to find out what the initials IBL stood for, and several more to get a feel of what it was really all about. (Maybe just went to the wrong pages first.)
The home page says “strengthening leaders with the essentials of ministry leadership.” What does that mean? I’m asking not for an answer but to point out that it’s somewhat “jargonish” (don’t know if that’s a word) for the front page.
It would be good if the leadership could put something on the home page to introduce the person who is entirely unfamiliar to this ministry about what it is - and what the initials stand for! :-)
I too have always appreciated your balanced comments on SI!
For sake of clarity I’ll plan on writing a post or article on the background and mission of IBL. Especially for you who are not acquainted with the ministry. Here’s a short description on IBL. Dr. Russ Lloyd came to Christ in the context of the Vietnam War. After the war the Lord used a variety of influences in his life - discipled with the Navigator’s material, discipled in a solid local church, studied the Biblical counseling at Faith Baptist (NANC) while working on his Ph.D. on Leadership at Purdue University. The Air Force had Russ teaching all of the incoming cadets at the Air Force Academy. During his late 30’s and early 40’s Russ began to have a counseling ministry connected to Washington Heights Baptist Church in Dayton, Ohio. In time this ministry developed into IBL. For many years, Russ did tent-making. His ministry was IBL and his secular work was to give leadership consulting for executives of some of the top fortune 500 companies. So Russ’s gifts and the ethos of IBL is much to help leaders with character and skill development within discipleship and leadership. IBL does four major things in connection to primarily leaders in ministry:
1. Coaching - sometimes leaders need help to know how to handle tough or even normal ministry leadership situations. IBL offers coaching to leaders that ask for help,
2. Counseling - sometimes pastors, missionaries, and others in ministry need personal counseling because of ministry or individual issues that they are facing in their marriage, in their personal life or in their ministry life. This counseling when serious enough takes place within the homes of IBL staff members.
3. Consulting - sometimes leaders and ministries feel stuck. They are looking for clarity on what their mission, vision, objectives, goals, priorities, tactics should be to accomplish the purpose for why God had established their ministry. IBL helps the leadership in these ministries to assess where they are headed. We never tell them what they should do. We ask them who they are and we together through a process of thinking and praying and looking at the Scriptures and then applying all of that to each ministry setting go from there.
4. Leadership Development - sometimes in connection to a College or Seminary, IBL will teach one or more of over 100 different “workshops” IBL has developed teaching Biblical principles of leadership, management, administration, etc….. We also do this in connection to individual churches. What will often happen is a church will open up their facilities and we will do a 2 day leadership seminar where we will teach 5 or 6 workshops on leadership (out of a hundred or so we have developed). These issues deal with a large scope of leadership issues.
* Often times we end up doing several of these in one setting.
** Sometimes IBL ends up helping in a ministry where there is much heated angst because of internal disagreement between key members and/or key leaders. In these cases IBL acts as a third party “peace-maker.”
***IBL is also working with the underground Christian leadership in Southeastern Asian countries - IBL is training leaders who hunger for theological teaching and have not had access to Christian colleges, seminaries or even much literature.
****IBL does not charge for it’s ministry. We come when and where we can and we trust ministries to help as they can and if they can’t we still come and trust the Lord to provide for the needs of the ministry. IBL has a network of individuals and churches that have been impacted by IBL’s ministry and those ministries/individuals are in the main who support IBL.
