MBBC sends Sandy relief team

Arizona’s two major utilities (APS and SRP) shipped off about 100 employees yesterday along with necessary equipment to help get the power back up. The ingrained Judeo-Christian values still at work in American society, along with the remaining image of God stamped on all of is, are truly amazing when they surface.

Why is it that my voice always seems to be loudest when I am saying the dumbest things?

(I know the SBC has a relief arm!)

Why Baptists don’t unite for relief efforts:

  • We often think tracts are the answer (consider Somebody Angry?) (segment image below)
  • We would never agree on a Bible translation
  • We would argue about “standards” for the workers (ok for the women to wear pants while wading through a flooded basement?)
  • Same for music (arguing about it)
  • We would probably mismanage the money because God forbid that we would be members of the ECFA (because the “E” stands for “Evangelical” and the “F” does not stand for “Fundamentalist”)

Good for Maranatha.

Having seen their work during the aftermath of Hurricane Ike, I’m very impressed with Disaster Relief Volunteers.
Disaster Relief is one of the most effective Christian ministries and many Christian groups are involved in it.
It always offers opportunities to present the Gospel of Jesus Christ.
