High school diploma requirement might violate Americans with Disabilities Act
“…the EEOC letter means that employers must determine whether job applicants whose learning disabilities kept them from obtaining diplomas can perform the essential job functions, with or without reasonable accommodation.” Washington Times

It looks as though office sitting bureaucrats have way too much time on their hands. Finishing a diploma, whether high school or advanced education, says that a person was assigned a task, and finished it whether he enjoyed all the details of the process.
This kind of government intrusion will have the effect of driving up the cost of doing business. Soon, some legislator will pass a bill mandating that employers file paperwork to show they have not discriminated upon the basis of education. It will be another layer of cost with no positive effect upon the economy, but will generate another job for the federal government.

[Dick Dayton] Finishing a diploma, whether high school or advanced education, says that a person was assigned a task, and finished it whether he enjoyed all the details of the process.Actually, Dick, this is only the way it should be. Students put on an IEP today can go all the way through college, with full degrees at every level, without ever accomplishing anything. We have teachers in my district with teaching certificates gained on the basis of teaching degrees awarded for four years attending classes in college on an IEP without actually achieving anything academically.
This is just a perfect example of the government creating problems which it then has to scramble to try to fix, which cause more problems which then need a fix, which cause more problems needing a fix, etc.
Why is it that my voice always seems to be loudest when I am saying the dumbest things?
