John Piper Interviews Rick Warren on Doctrine

Based on the man-centered Scripture-twisting of “Purpose Driven Life” (which I have read), Rick Warren is a false teacher.

I don’t care how popular John Piper is, he should carefully study 2 John 1:9-11:

(9) Anyone who goes too far and does not abide in the teaching of Christ, does not have God; the one who abides in the teaching, he has both the Father and the Son. (10) If anyone comes to you and does not bring this teaching, do not receive him into your house, and do not give him a greeting; (11) for the one who gives him a greeting participates in his evil deeds.

This is the problem with celebrity pastors.

Richard, why do you say he “hates” Rick Warren? How do you know his heart towards Rick Warren? A person can make judgments about false teachers without hating them. Do you hate Mike?

Is Warren a false teacher? I know very little about him, so I’ll defer to others, but I’ve never seen a news article where he embraced universalism or denied the virgin birth or anything like that. I know several very conservative people who appreciated his Purpose-Driven Church.

Because that is how it comes across. It is not always what one says but how it is perceived. How many people have come a cropper because of saying something which seems insensitive though it may not have been the way the speaker intended. I myself have been taken to task on here because of using a politically incorrect word and how quick have people been to jump on it. I am not jumping on Mike but expressing how his comments come across.

The purpose driven life was used for a Lent course we had and I found it brilliant. You may fault things in it but then who is free from fault?
We are too free with splashing the “false prophet” accusation.
